I have been thinking about starting this blog for so many years now. Actually, I think I started it (or something like it) a few years ago, got frustrated with its quality, and quit posting. I spend a lot of time reading blogs, and tend to believe that if my blog isn’t of the same quality of those I read daily, it’s not worth investing in.
So I’m trying to remind myself of a quotation I read in Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project: “Don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good.” (This quote is originally from Voltaire, but I associate it more closely with Gretchen Rubin’s book because my liberal arts education has failed me miserably.) So I’m going to write things, and some of the things I write are going to be poorly written. My subject matter isn’t concise enough, and I will probably ramble about unrelated topics until I figure out what really interests me. I won’t have any shiny banners or widgets for a while. And some of my sentences will be ungrammatical sentence fragments. Like this one.
But I will get off my ass and start writing.
